Poetry and Qi Gong

I've been writing poetry since 1973.  I also teach Qi (Chi) Gong online all year long as a way of paying it forward.

Hello friends,

Thank you for stopping in!

Feel free to use this space like a safe and refreshing haven, a service station of sorts… a rest stop for relieving oneself of whatever is not helpful, as well as revitalizing for the continuation of the adventure.

I’ve always loved creating practical and illuminating work that brings momentary, and often long-lasting inner connection…leading to curiosity as to the nature of things, internal as well as external. It is my heartfelt desire that this site will serve that purpose for you. Toward that intention, I’m grateful to include the brilliant art of my dear friend, Saya Behnam, as visual poetry.

And if you like what you feel here, I lead online Qi Gong classes about 45 out of 52 weeks a year! Check out my Qi Gong page.

Much love,

Lana Reed

Qi Gong

Working directly with the body's energy

Qi Gong brings more healing energy into the body and most especially into the hands. You can feel it while practicing and you can call on that space when you want to elicit healing energy. You become more aware of the energy in you, around you, and between you and others.

Qi Gong is often practiced in a natural outdoor environment. While walking in the forest, I will often stop for a few minutes of Qi Gong, no mat or equipment needed. Qi Gong expresses a respect and love of nature, even in the names of the movements—like Moon over the Lake, Pebble in the Pond, Bear Climbs the Mountain.

"If you have a teen, you know that connecting can be challenging.  For the past year, doing Qi Gong together has become a special time for me and my 14-year-old son, who says that he "likes it more than yoga," and that it "disconnects him from regular reality."  I am grateful for Lana’s video classes-- my teen goes into them without having to be convinced of its benefits!"

"I didn’t think anything could help my stress levels while in Graduate School, but your Qi Gong 6-week online series made such a tremendous difference in helping me cope. I felt much more in the flow of things. I am now a huge fan!"

Benefits of Qi Gong

Qi Gong is the epitome of mindful movement. You are always present to NOW in Qi Gong.

There is never a goal.  It looks and feels like you are moving in slow motion, and that allows you to be present to every single delightful second of your practice, and you may find that you take that peaceful presence with you as you journey through your life.

  • Relieves physical discomfort and mental anxiety

  • Reduces stress levels and brightens one’s outlook

  • Creates beneficial slow breathing habits

  • Gently wakes up joints and creates flexibility

  • Is easy to practice anywhere, no special equipment needed.
